Description of site. Nestling into farmland beneath Whinlatter forest. Peaceful site in picturesque setting, between Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwentwater. Panoramic views of surrounding fells, including Skiddaw, Barrow, Lord's Seat and Seat How. Superb walks / cycle rides. Grizedale Pike and The Coledale Round accessible directly from the site. Also, into Whinlatter Forest (the only mountain forest in England), with trails and many paths to follow. The Ospreys nest above Thornthwaite village, and fish in Bassenthwaite Lake. They can be viewed from the webcam at Whinlatter Visitor Centre. The C2C route passes our door! |

Directions to site: Lanefoot Farm is located between the villages of Braithwaite and Thornthwaite, approximately 2 miles from Keswick. From the M6, take the Penrith junction and head towards Keswick on the A66. Keep going past the Keswick turns. Pass the Portinscale turn, then the Braithwaite turn. Take the next turn signposted Thornthwaite. Follow for approximately half a mile. See 'Campsite' sign on the left, turn left and either go straight into the field on the right, or pull up at Farmhouse door. |
