Description of site - Do you need an attractive environment ? - where the rabbits scoot about the campsite, the buzzards soar on the thermals and the waterside statue is a real heron. For eight years now Batcombe Vale in Somerset has been awarded a place on the AA Best Sites List under the heading " Attractive Environment ". If traffic and trains are your norm, then your withdrawal pressures must cope with the plop of the fish, the munching of the cows and the incessant song of the blackbirds ! Batcombe is designated " an area of outstanding natural beauty ", and set in the middle of one of its secluded valleys is an enclosure of trees, lakes and wild landscaped gardens around Batcombe Vale House. The landscaping includes thirty individual pitches of mown grass, all adjacent to a hard roadway. There are electric hook-ups, water, drainage and rubbish points. A log cabin contains basins, sinks and showers with free hot water, together with toilets and a chemical disposal unit, payphone and tourist information, all well lit after dark. Bed & Breakfast can be obtained at the House. Undercover caravan storage is available. The 120 acre valley around the campsite is part of Batcombe Vale. You are welcome to wander and picnic in the fields and enjoy the company of the cattle (climb the gates - do not open). Three lakes by the campsite have scores of carp and tench up to 18lbs for the 'fisher folk'. We expect the fish to be treated kindly with the use of barbless hooks and landing nets, - keep nets are forbidden.
