Description of site - Well-maintained and peaceful five-acre site in rural Aberdeenshire, surrounded by farmland.

A 20-minute drive from Banff; 25 minutes from Fraserburgh or Peterhead and 45 minutes the city of Aberdeen.

The site is located 600 feet above sea level, on a very gentle slope/flat area, facing South-East, so has the sun for most of the day. The site is bordered by trees on the Northern side, giving shelter from the occasional breeze.

Larger than average spacious pitches, with small extras such as pup tents, dog gardens and awnings included in the price, and all with a view. Electric and water hook up points are strategically placed around the site too. There is site wide wi-fi (although speeds are agricultural at 1.9 Mbps, but bearable subject to online traffic), plus kitchen facilities for campers to include, microwave, kettles, toasters and more! Laundry facilities are also available for a small extra nominal charge.

Creating a 1950's feel of peace, security and tranquillity, East Balthangie is the choice for traditional outdoor holidays with lovely views of the Aberdeenshire rolling countryside, great sunrises and sunsets and where guests can base themselves, close to the Eastern coast of 52 miles of sandy beaches and dunes, stretching all the way from Aberdeen to Fraserburgh, to the rugged rocky North coast stretching from Fraserburgh to Portsoy. The site is adjacent to the scenic North Sea Cycle Route and is surrounded by a myriad of local cycle ways too. Then there are the castles, distilleries, marine aquarium, museums and a host of other points of interest to explore. Wildlife is abundant - Deer, pheasants, buzzards, rabbits, hares, hedgehogs, and owls are just some of the regular visitors on view. Rare breed poultry can also be viewed on the owner's John & Anna's neighbouring farm.

The facilities here are simple and well maintained, including ladies' and gents' toilets, wet room showers with power showers, a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer and site wide wi-fi.

Dogs are very welcome here (under lead control on the main site of course), but they all love the use of the secure dog exercise area, full of undergrowth to sniff through and the maze of pathways to explore.

East Balthangie Caravan Park is well set up for outdoor living, with picnic tables dotted around the site and with farm walks around the barley fields. Crop growth allowing, and at stubble time, you are also free to make use of the stubble parks surrounding the camp site. At night, the sky is superb, with one of the best views in the country of the Milky Way. On occasion you will also see the Northern Lights. Bear in mind though, that in this part of the world, the sun barely dips below the horizon around late June around the Summer Solstice, and it remains light the whole night long!

The nearest well stocked mini supermarkets are in New Deer and Cuminestown (10 minutes' drive each). Takeaway food is available in New Deer and New Pitsligo, where the local Indian restaurant offers deliveries directly to the site. For restaurant meals, the choice is locally in New Deer, or 20 mins away, in Turriff or Ellon, both of which have several restaurants and food outlets, and the usual bigger supermarket offerings.

For visitors traveling long distances and wish to leave their caravans between visits, we offer an on-site storage facility.

Directions to Site - From the South, take the new Aberdeen City bypass which begins at Stonehaven, if you wish to bypass the City of Aberdeen (You can drive through the centre of Aberdeen, or via the harbour to view the splendours of 'The Granite City). Travel the full length of the bypass and re-join the Aberdeen to Ellon dual carriageway at Black Dog, travelling North towards Peterhead and Ellon.
Travel through Ellon (shops and a lovely river walk here), or round the Ellon bypass (past a Tesco this way), then take the A948 to New Deer and on towards Cuminestown but not right to Cuminestown. Approximately 1 mile beyond New Deer (shops here) on this road, take the first right turn signposted 'New Byth'. There is also a sign to the site at this point saying 'Caravan Site 3.5 miles'. Follow this road until the site becomes visible to the left, down the hill, just past the trees.
From Banff take the A98 towards Fraserburgh. Take the right turn at the B9027 signposted 'New Blyth'. Pass through the village and after leaving, take the left turn straight up the hill towards New Deer. Follow this road for approximately 2 miles and look for the site appearing on the right hand side, just after the bad right-hand bend.
For caravans, it is better to approach the site from the New Deer to New Byth road, rather than through the 'back-road' from Cuminestown directly. It is still passable but is single track from here. Cyclists- take the shortest route!
